A Day At The Getty

The Getty Museum has always been one of my favorite places. It all comes back to my cousins proposal at this stunning place over 10 years ago. Although it was magical in the moment and somewhat has warped into distant sadness, it still holds up to my expectations to this day. Sometimes I come here for the architecture or to sit on the grass hill and have a picnic with a view of the gardens. I love playing tourist where I live so this museum makes it easy for me to do just that. Whenever I'm in a creative funk I usually come here to get inspired. Something about the art, the buildings all covered in marble and the beauty in all the little details....I get my creative juices flowing again.

Things to do here:
The cost is FREE, all you have to pay for is parking. It ends up being $20 if you come before a certain time I believe, but just head to the website for all of the things you need to plan ahead.

  • Bring your own food and beverages + blanket to have a picnic on the grass
  • Take a stroll around the gardens
  • My favorite exhibit is the Marie Antoinette so you can't miss that one
  • I also love the photography exhibit
  • All in all it's fun to just explore, it's also a nice cheap date day idea. My boyfriend and I brought monopoly deal here (although it got windy it was still a good time!)
