The Pearl Hotel - San Diego

For all the times I've traveled to San Diego - never have I ever been to this gem of a hotel. With the weather feeling like I've never left London (que the rain)....I really needed a little escape from Los Angeles. Activate vacation mode! Although, my boyfriend and I didn’t escape the rain we got to experience our first hotel stay together and I'll never forget this experience. After sitting in nearly 5 hours of traffic we arrived at The Pearl Hotel which is in the heart of Point Loma near Liberty Station. From the aesthetic cactus garden out front, to the dreamy oasis of a pool, let's just say the pictures don't do this place justice. It's even dreamier in person.

After checking in we headed straight to the room to drop off our things. The first thing I noticed was the gigantic king sized bed, which I had to jump on to test how comfy it was. On a scale from 1-10, 10 being the comfiest.... this bed deserves 100+. I'm going to need to buy whatever pillows they have in these rooms because I slept like a baby. The sweetest message was left on the desk in the room which had free drink cards. Since we were beyond hungry at this point we took the drink cards and walked over to the hotel restaurant/bar called Charles + Dinorah.  We checked in on a Tuesday which meant Happy Hour ALL DAY LONG.  We ordered the calamari (which had the best sauce + my favorite chile fresnos), fries, a happy hour cocktail and happy hour beer.  Overall everything from the food to the atmosphere was a vibe. We didn't want to leave but we had a dinner reservation at this pasta spot afterwards, called Cesarina and needed to save some space for pasta. Cesarina was only a 7 minute Uber from the hotel- the pasta wasn’t my favorite but I do recommend getting the Pomodoro Fresco with the Buccatini noodles. My favorite dish would have to be at The Pearl though! We had dinner while watching Bambi on the projector. I got the Salmon and Charlie got the burger.

I would 100% recommend staying at The Pearl Hotel. It felt like a couples dream stay even during the rain. It was romantic doing face masks, while wearing robes and spending quality time experiencing something new together. The pouring rain wasn’t so bad while staying here.

The places we went that are close to The Pearl Hotel:

-Sunset Cliffs (romantic beach vibes)

-Point Loma Lighthouse ($20 for parking, nice walk, gorgeous views and has tidepools etc.)

-Pizza Nova (walkable to the hotel, we tried the "pizza nova" signature pizza which we didn't like at all but if you like salmon on pizza this one's for you)

-EPPIG Brewing (cute little brewery on shelter island)

-Better Buzz (walkable coffee shop)
