Unplug and Listen

Growing up without social media, Facebook, twitter, snapchat and all other forms of apps that are on smart phones; was an all time engaging experience. Although I stuck to reading novels in between my high school periods or on my free time I think theres always been a sense of urgency to be present, especially in todays society. To look up and not down at others or at a screen because every single interaction you have with someone creates a ripple. This past week has shown me a lot about the relationships i'm involved in and continue to support. To the ones that go out of their way to spread love, I thank you. I love all my friends so dearly, and in different ways but what do you do when social media just pesters a relationship you're involved in? It could be a lover who isn't giving you attention because they rather live through others' social lives. Or maybe a friend that when you're with them you couldn't feel more lonely because your voice only echoes in your ears and goes right through theirs without a sound. I'm here to say we've all been there. It can be frustrating, infuriating but it could also be the best thing. You find out who really listens when you unplug. Maybe it's you who needs to do the unplugging. It's so important these days to be present because years from now who knows if instagram, snapchat or whatever app that consumes your day to day activities will even matter then and it probably won't. What does matter though is what you do with it because, it can instantly be gone tomorrow.  Find the people in your life who make you forget about looking at your phone. You can spare a few hours to unplug and listen. You'll be amazed at what happens when you do.

I put this on my Instagram caption the other day and was amazed at the amount of people that actually took the time to read my caption. Thank you.

"Your life is about breaking your own limits and outgrowing yourself to live YOUR best life. You are not in competition with anyone else; plan to outdo your past not other people" // it's definitely so easy to compare yourself and your path to others who you think are outdoing you, but always remember that nothing is as it seems and NO ONE can be a better you, than YOU - @dancingwithflyingcolors
